Media Frenzy. They managed to name the otherworldans, the dungeons the
Dungeon Delvers, even the Hearts. The media has been eating up all of this
madly and without delay. New shows on radio, TV, and Newspaper crop up all
the time to cover the monster menace.
One of the more popular, Dungeon Survivor. A group of normal civilians
is equipped with the highest caliber weaponry allowed in the state the show
is airing, given bullet proof vests, rations, and a backpack worth of
'personal' effects the contestant may choose. Their clothing is rigged to
record everything that happens around each of them from all angles. After a
week, if the team has not managed to either dismantle the dungeon or at least
escape, they send in their private Dungeon Delving squad to go in and pull
them out. More often than not, all that's recovered are the cameras and it
makes for good, if amazingly gory, fun for all.
The consumer market has been likewise affected. You can buy such items as
dragon repellant, orc away, and thousands of brands bearing logos of popular
creatures upon them. 'Do you want to be as strong as an ogre?', one commercial
goes, like many others of its kind. Occasionally, TV studios will go as far as
approaching sentient otherworldans with big cash incentives and promises of
protection from the masses in return for playing parts in their shows and
commercials.
