The appearance of these beings did not go un noticed by the pious of the
world. For the first year, the church as a whole remained tight lipped and
evasive in their phrasing. 'We're investigating the matter', being the most
popular statement to press and the inquisitive.

Smaller groups and denominations were swifter to form conclusions. It's
the apocalypse many cried. The living embodiments of Satan have come down to
Earth to sweep the board clean. Those of the MEC can be argued to be God's
own agents, or perhaps man's desperate struggle against the inevitable doom
of the world.

Fundamentalists and Survivalists have in recent times become very
dangerous people to be around. Locked in rigid and unforgiving mindset,
they often attack any alien being on sight. Many, on the other hand,
sequester themselves away in bunkers and fortifications, hoping the
trouble will pass by and 'cleanse the world of the sinners'.

After the dungeons began to appear, the Vatican officially declared
the incident to be a test of God. Disavowing the possibility of apocalypse,
they assure the faithful that all will be well if they continue to put heart
into the almighty to deliver them through this difficult period.

Many people are not very convinced by this. Fundamentalists in particular
were outraged at the announcement. Fully certain that this was indeed the
final battle, entire families of smaller religions have withdrawn from society
completely. Those who do choose to stay have put the modern day Mormon to shame
in their attempts to convert the masses as quickly as they can in a desperate
plea for time against the encroaching doomsday.

Like the latent magi, many fanatical worshippers find themselves endowed
with a variety of abilities. Incompatible with those of mages, these clerical
talents are claimed to be a gift from god. Empowered, such fundamentalists
strike out against the alien beings with a holy rage, acting as divine agents
of the last war. The MEC avoids such characters at all cost, even aborting a
mission to prevent a run in with such a 'mad priest'.
